Othello Banaci is a Liberian-American director, cinematographer, and photographer based in Washington, DC. Raised in Maryland, Banaci was exposed to photography at the young age of 10 when his mother gave him a disposable camera at the end of each school year. For college, he decided to attend Ball State University to play division one basketball and to study Biology. After two years of college, he realized that pursuing biology was not his life-calling. Shifting his focus from science into art, he began studying the various elements of storytelling. His interest in imagery led him to New York, where he was re-introduced to storytelling through a fashion internship. While in New York, he realized he wanted to pursue photography more intentionally. After years of trying, succeeding, failing, and getting back up, he finally decided to make the leap to turn his passions into a career.
